I have been at York St John since September 2005, before which I undertook my doctoral research in the Department of Psychology, Lancaster University. In my research I use discursive and rhetorical approaches to explore a range of social psychological topics, including citizenship, national identity, dis/obedience and representations of peace and conflict. I currently teach Social Psychology and Qualitative Research Methods.

Zahra TizroDr Zahra Tizro

Before joining York St John University I was working as a research fellow at the academic unit of public health, Leeds Institute of Health Sciences, University of Leeds on an ESRC project in relation to ‘informed choice and ethnicity in the context of genetic testing policies and practice’. The focus of the research was to investigate values women (with a diverse ethnic background) attached to the concept of ‘informed choice’ within the context of genetic testing using Q-methodology.

In the context of my PhD I investigated the issues surrounding domestic violence against women in a cross cultural setting. Meanwhile I conducted research in the context of personality and stress in children and adolescence implementing EBS (Emotional Behaviour Scale) which resulted in constructing a new psychometric scale EBS-IA (Emotional Behaviour Scale-Iranian Adolescents).
