Putting York business into focus

York Business Week is an excellent opportunity to inspire, advise and celebrate all that is fantastic about doing business in York.  This week brings together business and public sector leaders, support providers, entrepreneurs and students with a series of great events from 14 to 18 November.  Below some of the highlight events at York St John University and York St John Business School:

To open the week, Higher York Creating Opportunities event is being held at York St John University on Monday 14th November from 4.30pm.  Local businesses will find out some of the excellent opportunities which are available to those setting up or expanding businesses in the city including training and development from the Higher York partners.  Keynote speakers, Barry Dodd, chairman of the LEP and former BBC boss and Chancellor of the University of York, Greg Dyke will share their business expertise, welcomed by Professor David Fleming, Vice Chancellor of York St John University.

Tourism is one of York’s sectors which excels to ensure the city strengthens its position and remains at the top of its game in an increasingly competitive global marketplace.  This year’s York St John Business School’s Annual Tourism Futures Conference is set to be as fascinating as ever as experts gather to debate how York makes the most of international inbound tourism, come along on Tuesday 15 November from 9.30am.

Start-up businesses are the lifeblood of our economy, the city’s future employers and the wealth creators that benefit the whole of society.  To open up new funding opportunities, The Yorkshire Association of Business Angels Forum which York St John Business School is hosting on Tuesday 15 November from 6.00pm.

Nurturing the region’s entrepreneurial talent is vital and York St John Business School is proud to sponsor the Young Business Entrepreneur of the Year Award at The Press Business Awards 2011 on Thursday 17 November.
