Aims and objectives 2008 to 2011
Aim: We aim to create sustainable changes that will result in a greater diversity among participants in higher education drawn from the North Yorkshire area.

The Aimhigher York and North Yorkshire partnership will work pro-actively with other initiatives as part of an overall strategy for widening participation and lifelong learning in our area. We will seek to work flexibly by aligning Aimhigher funding with other funding streams. Activities will be part of an overall Learner Progression Framework which will often include interventions funded, supported and delivered by other initiatives, in addition to those funded and delivered by Aimhigher partners. We see this as a real strength of our strategic approach to WP partnership working.

Objectives:
1. To work with learners aged 14-19 from the core target group. We will engage with learners on academic and vocational pathways, in schools, colleges and with WBL Providers within the context of the 14-19 reforms.

2. To reach out to adults aged 19 –30 in communities (as defined in the Strategic Plan) and facilitate progression for them. In addition to seeking to raise aspirations, we will work together with Life Long Learning Networks to ensure progression pathways are in place, especially for those undertaking short taster courses so that they can progress to FE and HE accredited modules.

We believe IAG is an important part of this process.
3. To work together with others to contribute to the development of sustainable change after 2011.

We will seek to support the embedding of raising aspirations work within schools and colleges, WBL Providers and employers so that this work is seen as part of their core business.
